SSDs are expensive but you can use flash memory cards with an adapter to connect it. 2x or 4x Sandisk SD Extreme III with adapter supporting raid for them could perform as original SSD or even outperform them. there are possibilities to replace microdrives (ipod) with SSD as well but it is more complicated. it extends battery life too. Yes. it is probable to reinstate IDE as good as sATA drives with SSD versions. Most probably you can't use it as a slave drive. In that case connect it to the 2nd IDE cable in your desktop computer. Temporarily you can disconnect your optical drive if it is necessary to do so. sometimes jumpers or DIP switches have been located upon a PCB.

Most substantially we can’t operate it as a worker drive.
In which box bond it to a 2nd IDE wire in your desktop computer.

Temporarily we can undo your visual expostulate if it is required to do so.
